October 23rd & 24th,2009 at 7:30 PM

What are the connections between relationship violence, HIV/AIDS, drugs, gang, and gun violence? How do we as inner city communities, schools, and social service agencies confront them? Ras Mo the playwright, will play the lead role. The theater piece includes poetry, spoken word, rap, gospel, and reggae music. Through drama, song, story telling, spoken word, and rhyme the play addresses machismo, sexuality, drugs, guns, gender, HIV, AIDS, power and violence.

In Testify, a wise old poet interacts with aspiring male rappers, a young wannabe pimp/ gangster and a budding female feminist rapper from the hood. It's the story of a young people struggling to survive and overcome the violence, oppression, and media hype that plague our communities. The songs and poems are the core of the Pink & Blue Arts for Violence Prevention Project, which Ras Mo directs. The Pink & Blue curriculum and training workshops explore and deepen the themes that are dramatized in these performance pieces.
